Made to order, so let me know if you'd like to add one to your collection.
A completely unique and irresistible pen made by hand in the ancient Tambo Urushi technique. An exquisite writing instrument made from solid brass, perfectly balanced in the hand making it a real pleasure to use. The gel roller ball effortlessly glides along the paper.
Whether you are wanting a new, beautiful writing tool for your collection, a luxury pen for use in the office and meetings, or a designer pen for home and away an Urushi pen is the ideal solution.
The Nanako-Nuri or Tambo technique is labour intensive, the process of creating each pen spans months. When the first layer of coloured lacquer is applied on the base, rice and metal coils are scattered across the surface to make forms while still wet. The 'little things' are removed once the lacquer dries. Successive layers of differently coloured lacquer are built up and eventually sanded through 9 levels of emery paper to reveal the characteristic pattern.
